Sue Thomas F.B.Eye

An Uplifting Movie

Sue Thomas F.B.Eye Movie Review

 Sue Thomas F.B.I. Eye

I purchased the DVDs for this series several years ago from the American Family Association (AFA) after reading their recommendation for this very excellent 5-volume series (2002-2005).  It was created by brothers, Dave Alan and Gary R. Johnson, and was one of the highest ranking shows to air on PAX TV, which focused primarily on family-oriented entertainment, (currently ION Television, 2007).  I’m not sure if AFA still sells it but I’ve seen it on the Sue Thomas F.B.Eye Official Site and re-runs are sometimes shown on Christian cable television channels.

Sue Thomas F.B.Eye is the heart-warming story based on the true life story of Sue Thomas, a profoundly deaf woman who was hired by the F.B.I. to help with an elite surveillance team because of her ability to read lips.

I can’t say enough good things about this series.  The stories are well-written, the characters all fit well together, there’s a nice balance of drama, action, and comedy, and every episode is uplifting.  And simply put, Deanne Bray is a breath of fresh air.  She’s a great actress that is highly expressive and authentic as she plays the part of Sue Thomas because she, too, is deaf.  As she uses sign language and speaks and reads lips she is able to play the part as no one else could.  One of the things I particularly loved while watching this show is how Deanne Bray would watch the mouths of the other characters as they were speaking.  I don’t know if this was done out of necessity for her to know when to speak herself or if it was written in the script, but it really makes this show seem genuine.

This is a clean, wholesome, enjoyable, family-friendly series that we’ve enjoyed watching more than once, and it proves that a television program can be great without the usual violence, language, and sexuality because there isn’t any blood and gore or bad language and there aren’t any sexual scenes, and they use God’s name reverently and with gratitude.  These shows can be watched without any worry of inappropriate content.

This is probably the best money we’ve ever spent on DVDs and I cannot recommend Sue Thomas F.B.Eye highly enough. Unfortunately Netflix doesn’t carry it but it is available on the Sue Thomas F.B.Eye Official Site.
