Mother’s Day Subway Art
This upcoming Sunday is Mother’s Day ~ a day set aside to honor motherhood and the special mothers in our lives.
Last year when I was looking around for something special to make for my mother and mother-in-law I found this cute {free printable} Mother Subway Art sign here.
There are a lot of really nice ones available for printing but this one visually caught my eye. I love the colors, the fonts, the bit of whimsy, and especially the word Mother placed right in the center. So this is the one I used and they turned out so lovely.
For a little bit of a change-up, instead of popping them into frames, I decided to mount them on canvas boards and display them on easels.
:: These are the supplies you’ll need:
Subway art print printed out ~ I made mine 5×7 and had them printed at Costco
Canvas Board ~ the kind that’s only about 1/8-inch thick
Mod Podge
Foam Brush
Easel
:: How to Mount the Print on Canvas
1. Using a foam brush spread the Mod Podge over the front of the of the canvas.
2. Place the subway art print on the Mod Podge covered canvas. Let it dry for about 10 minutes.
3. Using a sharp blade, trim around the edge of the print if it sticks over the canvas board.
4. Mod Podge over the subway art print. Let dry.
5. Apply two or three more coats of Mod Podge. Let dry.
6. Place on easel.
This is such a cute gift and you can them whip up in just about an hour, after you get the print made and purchase your supplies.
Happy Mother’s Day
