Lovely Letter

Last week my blogging friend, Hannah {who writes the blog Pretty Wrapped}, completely made my day
by sending me this lovely letter.
It’s by far the prettiest piece of mail I’ve ever received.
I don’t think there’s anything better to lift a spirit than to open the mailbox and find a card or letter and know that someone has thought of me.

Hannah wrote a post about six weeks ago about Lovely Snail Mail and how thrilling it is for her to open her mailbox and find a handwritten letter ~ a letter that someone has taken the time to write just for her.  In her lifetime, she has had many pen friends and still has one that she has been corresponding with for twenty years!
It makes her sad that letter writing has been replaced with emails which aren’t as fun to receive {we all have to admit it’s hard to make an email look pretty}.

Then she shared a round-up of pretty mail {take a look} and I left her a comment at the bottom of her post telling her that I would just adore receiving a pretty letter like the ones in her post and she replied back that if I gave her my home address she would love to send me some pretty mail.

And boy, did she ever.

Take a look.

Securely enclosed in a piece of cardboard and a manila envelope, this is what I pulled out:
A pretty envelope addressed to me.
I could hardly wait to open it but I had to first figure out where to open it so I wouldn’t damage any of the pretty envelope decorating on the front or back.

Lovely Letter

Inside was a six page handmade booklet card that Hannah made just for me.

Lovely Letter-1She sent me uplifting quotes and a note with some of her unique randomness.

Inside that pretty little envelope was an origami surprise.

She must have known that I love to read and I wondered what would be in that sealed up bag.

It was a very nice letter written on pretty stationary.

Letter-6 More cheerful and uplifting nuggets but I forgot to take a picture of the two in the striped envelope.
One of them was one of my very favorite quotes by Roald Dahl: “If you have good thoughts they will shine
out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

Thank you, Hannah.
Your card brightened my day and I will keep it forever!

I invite you all to go to her blog and read this lovely post.
It’s my guess that you will want to sit down and make some lovely mail for a special someone.

At the end of her post she asks if anyone would be interested in a Snail Mail Swap.  I’m in.  How about you?

I am so greatful to Lori from Bright and Beautiful Life for sharing your post! I LOVE getting snail mail. Admittedly though the only snail mail I receive these days (and it puts me over the moon I might add) is the letters I receive from my Compassion child in Africa. It makes my heart skip a beat to read through his ever improving printing!!

Sadly, letter writing is becoming a lost art, isn’t it? I guess because everyone is “so busy”. What a lovely letter that you received.

I agree. Everytime I receive something nice in the mail ~ like this letter ~ I think, “OK, I’m going to reach out and send thoughtful cards or notes to friends and family.” But then, unfortunately, life gets in the way and I don’t do it. But I re-determined to do and be better.

This card should win the gold medal for cards at the letter olympics! it reminds me of a scrapbook actually – how lovely of your friend to make this just for you. I gush over all things paper and I’m an avid advocate for the lost art of letter writing over at Visiting via ‘FlusterBuster” link up

Hi Lori, thanks for sharing my little card I made for you. It was heaps of fun to put together. I’m so glad that you like it. The Roald Dahl quote is one of my favourites too.
I will share your card of my blog on Friday, though your photos are much better!
    Cheers, Hannah
