A couple of weeks ago I hosted a baby shower for my daughter-in-law who is expecting a baby girl ~ the first girl born into my husband’s side of the family for 55 years! Needless to say, everyone is pretty excited. We’re all excited on my side of the family, too, because is there anything better than a baby girl? {besides a baby boy?} Anyway, at that baby shower we made sure there was A LOT of pink. From invitations and decorations, gifts and blankets, to these mints.
You know those butter mints that melt in your mouth and are so yummy? Well, these Cream Cheese Mints are similar. They’re a little softer but are so minty and they melt deliciously. There are lots of Cream Cheese Mint recipes floating around on the internet. I found this recipe here.
They were really easy to make and everyone loved them. In fact, I think everyone had at least, oh about ten!
Ingredients
- 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
- dash salt
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1-2 drops food coloring {optional}
- 4-1/2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
- Beat the cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
- Add the salt, peppermint extract, and food coloring. Mix well.
- Add the powdered sugar, a bit at a time, mixing well to form a thick dough.
- Roll the dough into logs, about 1/2" thick {like making play doh snakes!} and slice every 1/2".
- Lay the mints on wax paper and let them dry overnight.
- Store the mints in an airtight container.
Try making these mints for your next special occasion.

These were so melty and amazing in my mouth, I was hooked, and I don’t typically like mints of any kind!
Haha. I wasn’t really counting. 🙂 They are amazingly delicious and minty.
Sitting here with a few family members, I whipped the screen around to show them this and got lots of oohs and awes!! Will be trying these.
I know what you mean. That’s exactly how everyone at our baby shower reacted. And then they each either grabbed a handful or nibbled throughout the party. Let me know how you like them, if you make them.
These are my favorite. I never knew how to make them though. Thank you for sharing. And, congratulations on baby girl to be. I can’t believe it’s been 55 years on your husband’s side of the family for a baby girl. How exciting.
Thank you, Amy. We are so, so excited about our soon-to-be baby grand daughter. And now you can make your own mints.
What a clever idea and I’m sure these mints were a hit! It’s funny, but I’m past the baby shower phase and onto the bat mitzvah stage. The time really goes by so fast. 🙂
You’re not kidding about time passing by so quickly. It seems like we only blinked a time or two and our children are now having children. So my advice to you is don’t blink. Thanks for commenting.
Yummy! I love mints, and I love the bright color pink! I always think about mints as being pastels, but I like the color change!! Makes them more up to date!!
Yea, the bright pink was a must for this occasion. If you love mints, Jeni, give these a try and then let me know what you think about them.
Thanks for the post. We have a mint recipe, but it doesn’t call for cream cheese. Can’t wait to try these!
I saw other recipes and for some reason the cream cheese is what drew me in to the recipe I used and I’m glad I did because they are delicious. I would love to try your recipe {share, please 🙂 }

I’m thrilled, Lisa. Thank you so much for the feature. I’m with you… they are delicious.
I can’t wait to try these! I was just curious though, is it safe to keep them sitting out considering there is cream cheese in them?
Hi Abby, I think they’re safe left out. I’ve had the leftover mints in a container and pop one in my mouth every few days just to see if they’re still good and they are {they haven’t made me sick!}. Maybe all of the sugar helps preserve the cream cheese.
Thanks so much for the reply! 🙂 I did make them and oh my are they yummy! I made yellow ones to have at my son’s construction birthday party. They were very easy to make…,the hardest part is going to be keeping the rest of the family out of them when they get home this evening! 😉
These mints look delicious! Im afraid if I make them I will eat them ALL in one day! I would LOVE to have you share this at my link party!

Don’t get stuck in a rut with these! I have added butter flavoring for butter mints; strawberry, cherry, lemon, orange . . . the skies the limit!! Have fun!!
Great idea. Butter flavoring would be delicious.
