Cranberry Horseradish Sauce [a Stonewall Kitchen Copycat]

Cranberry Horseradish Sauce

I’m going to hurry and squeeze this post in before Thanksgiving because some of you out there just might be looking for a new delicious cranberry sauce for your Thanksgiving dinner and those leftover turkey or ham sandwiches.  This sauce/spread is a copycat of the Stonewall Kitchen Cranberry Horseradish Sauce so if you love theirs you’re going to love this.  You’ll also love that it’s inexpensive and super quick and easy to make. This recipe makes 3-4 cups of sauce for about $3.00 compared with the Stonewall Kitchen brand of sauce that’s $7.00 for 1-1/2 cups.

This is a great sauce to eat along with turkey, ham, or roast beef and is delicious spread on sandwich bread using the same meats.  It’s also really tasty just spread like jam on a roll.

Yield: about 3-4 cups

  • 4 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups water
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups sugar
  • 2-4 tablespoons prepared horseradish (or more if you like it hotter)

  1. Place the water and cranberries in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium high heat until the cranberries pop open.
  2. Lower the heat to simmer and stir in the sugar.
  3. Continue cooking at a simmer for about 30 minutes or until the cranberries are soft enough to roughly mash.
  4. Using a potato masher or the back side of a spoon roughly mash the cranberries to your desired chunkiness.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool. Stir in the horseradish. Start with 2 tablespoons and increase it for your desired amount of spiciness. (If you don't like it very spicy just use 1 tablespoon.)
